At St. Joe’s, we’ve been busy building a new kind of Communication Studies department.

With talented faculty, a supportive administration, and motivated students – we’ve turned our little start-up into a thriving digital media studies outpost, with plans to hire every year into the foreseeable future.

This season we are hiring our chair.

This person will have the extraordinary opportunity to build something great.

We are looking for someone who shares our vision – someone who wants to make a difference.

Our chair will not only lead a passionate group of thinkers and doers into the future, but will help to extend our work into the community of Philadelphia, fostering innovation and positive social change.

If this sounds interesting, we would love to hear to you.

Together with students in the Communication Studies Department, I organized a TEDx event on the Saint Joseph’s University campus on October 13, 2011. The event explored the role of emerging communication technologies in the future of social entrepreneurship; presented forward-thinking ideas of progressive students and young change-makers; and, discussed strategies to help students foster social innovation through the use of new technologies.

You can view the recorded talks below, which feature innovative students and young social entrepreneurs from across the country who use the social web for positive social change. This event was free and open to the public. Students, teachers, and the general public in the Philadelphia area were invited to attend.

Here are the much anticipated videos from the event.
