About
Welcome to Aesthetically
Aesthetically began with the idea of creating a dialogue about aesthetics and its role in our daily lives. Blog topics range from technological trends to authentic journeys to meaningful design.
My teaching, research, and service focus on multimodal composition practices in rhetoric and composition studies. The term multimodal refers to multiple modes of communication, including linguistic, visual, aural, spatial, and gestural ways of meaning making. I teach and study how writers and producers compose multimodal texts.
I strive to develop tools and practices that bridge important gaps between 1) more formal and technical aspects of multimodal communication and 2) social and cultural aspects of how multimodal communication engages users, connects people, and builds communities. I’m especially invested in how students, organizations, and communities can bring about positive social change via emerging communication technologies.
I teach courses in the Communication Studies Program at St. Joseph’s University. Recent courses include Social Media, Digital Storytelling, and Visual Rhetorics. My course website can be found here. For more background info, please visit LinkedIn and Academia.edu.
